Entwebbe Women Association (EWA) is a non-Govermental Organisation that embraces all people irrespective of their religious, political and racial affiliations. With head offices on Entwebbe, on Plot No.1, Station Road, EWA is a National NGO. Whose activities have so far been extended to 12 districts of Uganda, It has an operational fully fledged branch Office that serves South-Western Uganda in Runkungiri District, at Plot 33, Karagessa Road, Rukungiri Town.

Women and Crafts

One of the EWA objectives being creating a link between enviromental conservation, poverty alleviation and sustainable development. In a bid to acheive the Millennium Development Goals (MDG's) EWA is promoting and supporting Womens Groups to generate income through arts and crafts using available resourses as to conserve the enviroment and erradication of poverty.

With cultural and ethical considerations in mind , women have come up with various Craft designs, including the Nubian Fruit baskets, Kiganda mats, trays, hand bags and many others. These are normally made from natural fibres and shrubs from wetlands which are collected in a way that allows new germination or growth of new ones.
